Enjoyed this short trip to Zagreb to see my friend Eddy Ramich's new Kontrapunkt night at a brand new club called VIP Club; supposed to be a jazz club but they have other plans as well; The night was the opening night actually and despite the mixed crowd we managed to impose our style of music quite good, you know how difficult it can be with a mixed crowd, some came for you, others came for the free champagne. Anyway, I'm very glad to see Eddy's night in a brand new spot; sound was great, hospitality outstanding as usual and good vibe. Thank you Zagreb for the opportunity, Eddy for everything, Lea for everything else, the VIP Club for the great club you guys have, Croatian Airlines for putting me on a straight flight to Brussels instead of the planned stop in Zurich, and the plane pilot who had a tough time to get me home safe and sound (2 hour turbulence ride), thanks to the crazy storm named Joachim crossing Europe from west to east.

Recorded in 2002 during the ‘Frank’ sessions – and you can hear it can’t you?

Velvety layers of electric piano and clarinet over an instantly discernible, impeccably swung ?uestlove drum groove. Plus that floaty outro from 3.20: one can get actual feelings of uplift and agony as the record makes it’s little ascension up, dissipating into a recording hiss. All a powerful reminder of Amy exercising her fondness for that Soulaquarian period in music.

Blimey. What a f***ing trip.

House of Balloons was the addiction, the lack of videos (and substitute piles of cliché fan-made crap tarts) was the withdrawl symptom.

Tesfaye and the XO clique trade potions with long-time PinBoard homie/mad scientist Mikael Colombu to conjure up this first ever official Weeknd visual, and it wholly goes far-left. The piece is definitely more Dune than Battlefield Earth rest assured, and turns the once monochromatic envisioning of this record into a gorgeous, pale blue, eye-wank Space-Opera. If you’re familiar with the director’s work, you’ll know to give it repeat viewings for sake of subtext alone. It’s a daring work that smells of cult classic.

Both Balloons and Thursday have been personal highlights of my musical year, but I’ve a feeling this video may divide opinion for it’s even more avant garde departure – but then that’s all an artist needs to stand-out. Few have been doing that with as much of an arrogant, brilliant, reformist attitude than The Weeknd this year.

Can’t wait for Echoes of Silence.

At the peak of tensions in Rio, two Portuguese brothers ventured into the most feared slum and lived there during the largest police operation ever launched in that state. They experienced a life where most people awaken to the sound of gunfire and sleep accompanied by shots. The heads of the largest criminal faction in Rio speak intimately and plainly of the life in the world of trafficking. They are the power that exists after a decades-long absence of government power. But the film also offers a slice of life with inspirational characters - a mother shows how her faith in Jesus makes her believe all is possible; the president of the dwellers’ association shows that despite the frightening expansion of the complex, the arrival of crime, drugs and guns, he is able to make life better for his favela neighbors; a rapper - MC Playboy - a funk artist who realized that his path was not trafficking, while he saw many of his friends murdered, he conquered his space within the community and fights to destroy prejudice and bring all of society together. The people in the favela live under constant tension in the midst of a power game where both everything and nothing is possible. Through action and word, each character adds a piece to a gigantic puzzle that reveals to us the daily life of the favela as a whole. Director Mirio Patroconio’s film asks and answers “How is it to survive in this reality?”

He was 62 and had been a longtime resident of Harlem.

FACT mix 239 is a recording of the headline set at last Friday’s FACT and Young Turks party, a back-to-back session between Jamie Smith, percussionist in the xx and renowned producer in his own right, and South London’s Oneman, one of the city’s most reliably brilliant DJs, with a revered show on Rinse FM (not to mention a Rinse CD) and a promising label in 502 (home of Jay Weed, TEETH and Fis-T).

Every track is pretty much a highlight here, but some idea of what to expect, Boddika & Joy Orbison’s new collaboration ‘Swims’, DJ Zinc, Dizzee Rascal, Ruff Sqwad, Shed, Armand Van Helden, Girl Unit and ‘Ring my Bell’ all feature.

If you want to watch video footage of the set, head over to the Boiler Room, who were kind enough to come down and stream the night – which also featured sets from Hyetal, DJ Rashad and more – to the world. It was a pleasure, to put it lightly, and this is the first of a series of ‘live’ FACT x Boiler Room mix sessions – more to come soon.

A renowned DJ since his work with PSK in the ’80s, Rocc helped formed the World Famous Beat Junkies (to give them their full name) in 1992, becoming a hero to future generations of turntablists and crate diggers alike in the process. The crew still operates now, with members like Babu and D-Styles holding legendary status in underground hip-hop circles, while J. Rocc’s reputation has grown and grown in the decade and a half since – he’s toured with Madlib, Mos Def & Talib Kweli, Jurassic 5 and more, and as a producer has collaborated with both Madlib and J Dilla.

The Croatia-born, New Zealand-based sister duo MayaVanya is on the growing list of electronic artists plucking from world sounds, and transforming them into head-bobbing hotness.

Latin, African, Caribbean, eastern Euro gypsy, French cabaret, funk, and even some old timey speakeasy sounds make their way into MayaVanya’s deluge of singles and mixtapes.

The ladies can throw down club style if they have to. But they also know how to make lush, heady, and downright sexy downtempo tracks.

Not surprisingly, they’re famous as hell, too. Sisters? Croatia? Talent? They’re a shoe-in. You couldn’t make up something cooler. As a result, Maya and Vanya have shared a stage with Swedish House Mafia and Afrojack, Diplo, and on April 6, they’re opening for Brodinski in an all-star Mad Decent show in LA. Let’s just say they’re not starving.

Here’s a good sampling. I recommend the long mix for Pomp & Clout, the original version of “Panama” and “It Began in Africa Project.” But really, go nuts.

Red Bull Music Academy – Tokio 2011

Ožujak će definitivno biti u znaku Red Bull Music Academy 2011. - i to sa čak tri odlična plesnjaka uz odlične DJ-eve. Prvog se RBMA vikenda, točnije u subotu 12. ožujka, zabavljamo u zagrebačkom klubu Masters na još jednom izdanju programa Freilauf, uz domaćeg Jogardea i gosta iz Njemačke Gerda Jansona. On je među organizatorima ovogodišnje svjetske akademije u Tokiju, gdje će biti vodeći moderator mnogih predavanja. Gerdu će ovo biti treće gostovanje u Zagrebu, a prva dva su mnogima ostala u posebnom sjećanju.

Već sljedećeg vikenda, u subotu 19. ožujka, dogodit će se središnji event u sve popularnijem zagrebačkom klubu Grič. Domaćin je Eddy Ramich, a gost Ben UFO. On dolazi iz Velike Britanije i jedan je od najutjecajnih londonskih klupskih DJ-a . Popularnost mu raste iz dana u dan. Kombinirajući razne stilove - house i garage, dubstep i grime - sa bezvremenskim klasicima iz plesne glazbene povijesti, njegovi su nastupi nepredvidivi i inspirativni. Nikoga ne ostavlja ravnodušnim. Kao DJ na londonskom Rinse FM-u ima ulogu važnog promotora novih zvukova i producenata plesne glazbe. Odlični podcastovi i mixevi za Red Bull Music Academy Radio i Resident Advisor lansirali su ga do pozornica i DJ pultova širom svijeta pa Ben UFO sad nastupa uz velikane poput Kerrija Chandlera i Ricarda Villalobosa. Ulaz na ovaj središnji RBMA event neće se naplaćivati!!!

The revival of live MPC is taking place these days in the world of hip-hop so much so that the New York Times is noticing it. Leading the charge is Dipset’s rising production star, AraabMuzik. Known to few as Arabhram Orellanes, Araabmuzik has not only worked with hip-hop’s biggest names but has also been recognized for his talent that he has chosen to bring it to people live instead of letting them hearing it via albums or online.

The MPC (which stands for music production center) allows anyone to combine a drum machine and a sampler to crank out endless beats. Each pad found on the machine has a distinct sound when touched and those who master it usually play it a ferocious speed.
Take AraabMuzik for example, his hands and fingertips are lightning quick when you watch his work which is all part of the allure of the MPC as an instrument as it’s slowly becoming something people would rather witness for themselves rather than recorded versions. When I first started producing, workspace & hardware were top priorities. The beat machine, the gear, the table, the chair, all involved in the success of my work. Friends & artists alike would frequent my studio to hangout, socialize & sometimes work. If it were the 1800's my studio would have been a parlor, general store & burlesque rolled in one, tucked neatly in my mothers basement. Over time, I became dependent on my workspace to create. I needed all of my out board gear, play station games & hot pockets to make dope beats & rhymes. Then something happened, I received an email from Aries, a singer song writer duo out of Philly. We had been working on new material & I reached out to them to see when our next session would be. Their response, "can you just send the session?" I sat in my studio pub taking shots of orange juice asking saying to my self, "send the session, what does this mean?" Clearly they know I have to come to Philly with my beat machine & track it out? That's when it hit me, technology was changing the way music was being made. It had always done so & it wasn't about to stop for me. I took a trip to my local pro audio store & began to ask stupid questions that were met with smug answers.

Me - "excuse me sir, what do I need to send a session"
Stereo typical guy working at Guitar Center - "you're in the work section, this is acoustic guitars. You need to be in electronics" (but you guys know how he said it)

Lucky for me there was a younger guy working there who knew just what I was after. He was the Dalai Lama at the top of pro audio mountain. He & only he could answer my question, what is the meaning of sending a session? Him with his knowledge of all things audio quickly answered. "You need a computer, make sure it's a mac. (the beginning of my apple snobbery) You need Pro-Tools & a digital interface." (the standard at that time) Among all the other things I needed, I cracked my lamb bank (no swine son) & made the purchase of a life time.

It's now 2011, I now make music music, record, mix, handle administrative work, bull sh*t on social networks, watch movies & TV exclusively on my mac book pro. The best part about it is, I'm doing that on the tour bus, train, plane, on the beach & even in bed. Whether I'm in London, LA, NY, DC or anywhere else, If I get the call... I can send the session.

This time last year I was in unfathomable state of worry and disarray. Among other things, I was in the process of editing and reediting Brown Study…

Being rather new to the craft of writing an album (my first) so naturally I was excited, and terrified! “Will people get it? Will it be received well? But what if they love it and I can’t perform up to it next time? ” And “..But my hooks ain't that strong and I cant really perform any of the songs on it” and blah blah blah. I was drowning myself in doubt, and then came “Understanding”.

While writing that particular song, I was coming into a lot of different phases in my relationships and with myself when I came to realize something. It was the point I allowed to slip my mind even as Apollo assured me the album was dope, and friends and family reminded me what I was doing this for and kept me honest and grounded. Point being this is my platform to tell my story. However it reveals itself people will either relate, hate it, love it, rock to it or disregard it. But it’s still my story.

This is not a popularity contest. It is a test of your resilience and allegiance to your truth. Do you make music so people say its dope or do you want to connect? I Realize I want to connect on the realest, rawest level. God knows to be able to sustain myself financially from it is the ultimate goal, but that’s bonus. It is surely not the basis. Brown Study challenged me, gave me space to explore and grow. It game me exactly what I needed and showed me that honest music is the music I will make for the rest of my life. A record is nothing if it ain’t touchin, word to KT!

This is the debut album of original music from one of the original turntablists, the longtime DJ for Madlib and the late J Dilla, and our pick for world’s greatest hip-hop DJ.

But this is not a “DJ album”. Not a “beat album”. Not a mix tape. This is an original work of instrumental hip-hop ... electronic music ... dance music ... smoke tracks ... assorted cold rock stuff.

J. Rocc first made his name as co-founder of The World Famous Beat Junkies in the 1990s with Rhettmatic, Melo D, DJ Babu and Shortkut, becoming a seminal force in the rise of turntablism and instrumental hip-hop. He went on to host The Fantastic Four Radio show on L.A.’s Power 106, perform as the third member of Madlib & J Dilla’s Jaylib, and tour the world as a solo artist, DJ and producer.

Some Cold Rock Stuf also contains a “mystery disc”, one of three mystery discs included in different copies of the album. No track list is provided for the “mystery disc” and the CD label does not distinguish one mystery disc from the other.

The vinyl release is a 3/LP set - album and mystery disc - with a triple gatefold, double sided poster, and sticker sheet. When FlyLo recently discussed the concept of the video he said, “I originally wanted to keep visual themes with another video from my last LP called ‘mmhmm’ off of my last album. It featured Thundercat as an intergalactic bass player in a super strange world created by ‘Special Problems’. Since Thundercat was part of this song, I thought it could be fun to continue the visual style and feel of this space opera. In the end you have this crazy video made of so much mixed media, geek dreams and lots of love.” This is the third video off of Bilal’s latest album Airtight’s Revenge, which also features the Grammy nominated track “Little One.”

1. Who makes up Eddy meets Yannah and who does what in the team?

• Jana Valdevit is a song writer, programmer, beat maker, musician, and vocalist.
• Eddy Ramich (with his DJ/music selecting skills) gives the final touch when it comes to the form, choice of the sounds, or missing elements.
• Together we function as a production team.

1. When did you guys team up and how did the idea name come about?

• Jana: In early 2000 in Zagreb. We weren’t really like-minded, but I really liked the music Eddy was playing. Eddy saw in me great material to exploit; singer and a musician in one.
• I showed interest in programming soon, Eddy taught me how to make beats (on the first album it’s obvious that I was new in it), infusing my brain with fresh broken beat. What connected us mostly in a working and human way was an urge to make music and lack of open minded music circle in Croatia at that time (luckily that has changed till now days). Except for few enthusiastic but inexperienced individuals; the most progressive projects were acid jazz oriented and did not show any interest in even hearing something new.
• Soon after we got a chance to do some remixes together; we needed a project name, so Eddy made this one without much thinking (he could have been more creative, I guess).

1. With such an interesting team dynamic, how do you guys make it “work”?

• Jana: After many years of working together, we created some kind of working harmony, each carrying a certain role at a time. We are both aware of each other’s qualities and through the years; the creating process has become smoother, as we learnt how to react when disagreeing, without causing a dispute. I couldn’t describe us like this few years ago though.

1. How do you manage your working relationship? Do you often have difference of opinion when working?

• Jana: I wasn’t much of a party animal till my early 20s, therefore didn’t know much about club music (shame on me). He might get offended by this Eddy was kind of not aware of all aspects of music and sometimes he seemed narrow minded to me.
• The thing is that I got my musical education in music school and from my jazz addicted brother, while Eddy got his knowledge in clubs - DJing from his early days and eagerly following all that is fresh in music.
• Basically we were both ignorant to what we haven’t got and this caused many pointless arguments. In last seven years I think we both spread our horizons, our music taste became very similar (very wide spectrum) and we grew up a bit, so today we think of our differences as a positive aspect.

1. Would you be able to say what genre of music do you specialise in?

• Jana: Not really. We both love the variety and freedom of today’s music, though I have to admit I’ve never thought so many house music will be made in our modest studio. It goes in phases.

1. What is the biggest event you’ve ever performed at? What would be your ultimate performance and where?

• Eddy: It’s hard to say, there were bunch of important shows, and sometimes when you get booked to a big festival; at the end it’s an average experience. So it looks like that some of coolest shows where in small clubs like at Raw Fusion in Stockholm or at Room in Tokyo or Plastic People in London.
• Anyway two shows that I remember very well from this year are:

In Osaka as Eddy Meets Yannah; where we played completely different stuff from what the crowd expected and they went bonkers. It was a proper heavy bass set.
A big festival in Croatia where I played with Simbad for 5 hours - all styles, a back to back set in front of 1000 people. In the end the crowd started to climb on our stage and wouldn’t leave. That was a classic one.

1. Give us a breakdown a day or night in the life of Eddy meets Yannah? What’s the preparation like (whether it’s working in studio or leading up to an event and what happens afterwards)?

• Jana: I wake up around 7am (I’m a morning person), make coffee, go the study/studio, turn on the computer and start working on headphones (cause we live together and Eddy’s not a morning type).
• I turn on the speakers around 11am, Eddy wakes up because of the noise, and when he finally becomes aware of the world around him; he gives his impressions about what he hears.
• Sometimes he’s very constructive and gives good directions, sometimes he just says he likes it, sometimes he simply doesn’t like it. Sometimes I wish I didn’t ask at all.
• Due to other things he works on (organization of events, DJing, radio etc.); most of the time I work by myself, but at the end his few tips and tricks or just his enthusiastic reaction to what I made bring a new piece to it’s completion. What happens afterwards? We usually eat something. As for the gigs, it depends where the gig is - if it’s a casual one then we’re also casual. If its unknown territory, then we prepare mentally for it (I tend to freak out inside). Eddy is definitely much bigger pro when it comes to being on stage. Afterwards we drink something.

1. What about time with family and friends – how do you manage that?

• Jana: I wouldn’t say there’s anything to manage - we lead quite a normal life; loving our families, visiting on weekends and holidays and hanging out with friends.
• Zagreb is not a big city, so there isn’t that “I’m too busy to have a social life atmosphere”.
• When I’m thinking of our friends and families, I would even dare to say that we fit into a category of very happy people, if there is such a category.

1. Given your insight into what’s good on the music scene (and for you), what do you think the trend for the upcoming years will be? What trends have you seen in the type of music you make?

• Jana: Eddy’s better with forecasting and to be honest I don’t have a clue. Anything that is not irritating noise. Or maybe undefined irritating noise is the new thing. (BTW I heard people commenting on dub step like that). I like it; it gives a great new touch, especially on how it has blended into house music. Everyone is influenced by everything, so are we and our production at the moment. These are very exciting times in music.

1. How many groupies do you get? And are you happy with the number of groupies you are getting? This goes to the both of you.

• Jana: I don’t get any groupies! What’s wrong with me? Just kidding!
• I guess the music circle we’re in doesn’t get you groupies in a sense of people stalking you, fans rather come and show their appreciation in some polite way (or am I just comforting myself?)
• As for Eddy, he’s turning popular among ladies in Zagreb. He’s doing push ups lately - maybe that’s the reason.

1. Have you had any awkward moments with fans of your music whether on a personal note or when performing? Have you performed at an event that made you go”WTF???”

• Jana: One that just crossed my mind… A year ago in Kyoto after a gig; I went to some back room in the club to rest my eyes for a bit, and some guy came out of nowhere thinking I was Snowhite (I guess) and started kissing me.
• Human perception is funny, cause if it happened in Croatia; I guess I would start punching a guy, but this goofy Japanese dude didn’t make me angry. I just waved him off laughing.
• Oh… I don’t understand the need of some people to scream KCUF YOU when they’re REALLY enjoying the set, but they really do exist. WTF???

• Eddy: From time to time there is always a weirdo in a crowd, but the most annoying one was the time when a guy was coming to the DJ booth and was pushing the needle away from the turntable while I was mixing. After he did this for the 4th time; I grabbed him and kicked him out of the venue. Since then I’m not DJing anymore in an Arsenal t-shirt. (i have realized that I get always into trouble when I wear that tee.

1. What’s in store from Eddy meets Yannah? What aspirations do you have?

• Jana: For club tracks to be bangers, for songs to cause goose bumps, to progress our production vice and to always have appetite for fresh things.
• After 3 albums and many other releases; we finally got to the point where we really know what we’re doing, diagnosing flaws as soon as they appear and having a clear picture of a final product.
• I guess we finally (that goes for me especially) realised that making music requires a craftsmen’s’ approach, we’re not doing it only for ourselves, but to give an impulse to a listener - whether if it’s the dancing one or an emotional one. Many new tracks/songs were made in last few months, some definitely not Eddy Meets Yannah sounding. There are club tracks influenced by numerous new genres, some couldn’t be more obvious but still fun housy tracks, some cheesy but moody love songs, some don’t know how to classify - tracks in meters like 6/4, unsymmetrical 9/8 (it’s not all about 4/4 anymore). This is why we decided to create some new name projects and not focusing only on Eddy MeetsYannah. Anyhow we’re going to surprise ourselves.

2. Please give us more information on your latest album Fiction Jar. How does the album differ from the past work you have done?

• Eddy: It’s our third album and we are most proud of it. From beginning till end we are satisfied with how it came out. Musically, it’s an album that closed the Eddy Meets Yannah first three albums chapter. Now we’re working on a lot of new stuff that will sound slightly different to our previous work and there is lot of beat stuff in the pipeline.

1. You’ve worked with some class acts (like Capitol A), what would be your ultimate collaboration?

• Jana: J.S. Bach, I wonder how his music would sound like if he was contemporary. I wouldn’t mind working with David Bowie though. With all the artists that can do what we can’t ourselves (and those are many). Making music is the prettiest game in the world.

1. Who do you regard (aside from yourself) as a performer that’s making strides in the industry?

• Eddy: At the moment I do fancy lot stuff that’s been made by people like Ramadanman, Mosca, Jamie XX, Kink, Hud Mo, etc and of course always into stuff by our friends Zed Bias ( he is on fire at moment and is helping us a lot with our new stuff ) , Seiji, Simbad, etc.

1. How may people get in touch with you should they be interested in working with you or stalking you or maybe for a signed autograph?

• Jana: We’re quite approachable, whether it’s work or stalking - there are lot of windows in our flat. We’re also able to write. I’m not much of an Internet freak, but Eddy’s on Twitter and I have very inactive FaceBook page, so anyone with a request, suggestions or offer for free of charge house cleaning can contact us.

SEX CRIMES 3084: A BTD MIXTAPE

In 1985, a rather unremarkable adult movie was released titled Sex Crimes 2084 — it was vaguely based on George Orwell’s 1984. While the book was about a state controlling its citizens through extreme measures and the nature of personal freedom, the movie was about people fucking. It wasn’t about people fucking in the future though, or people fucking in space, or people fucking aliens or robots or anything exciting you’d imagine an adult movie with 2084 in the title would have. This is a failure of imagination.

Thusly, I was inspired to create a mix that would serve as perfect accompaniment to a movie that did have all of those elements, a theoretical movie I call Sex Crimes 3084. Obviously, a soundtrack mix, to a non existent sequel of a poorly received twenty six year old porno, will be comprised of tracks explicitly about sex. As we all know, if you’re talking explicit sex music, you’re talking about the diaspora of club music. Ghettotech, Miami Bass, Bounce, Juke and Baltimore Club will all get the job done. On this mix we have tracks from all those genres mixed together to evoke the feeling of a sweaty, felonious, futuristic, fuck party with aliens…and robots.

Back in July, French DJ/producer Brodinski (pictured above) dropped Best of Everything, a two-part mix consisting of Brodinski's favorite hip-hop and techno tracks at the moment. Now we've gotten our hands on Best of Everything 2, a collection of Brodinski's favorite hip-hop and R&B remixes from a host of excellent producers. Rumor has it that Brodinski commissioned many of the remixes, challenging his fellow producers to make new tracks from a collection of accapellas resulting in 16 club-friendly reworkings of artists who are more often found on commercial radio than our website. Standouts from the comp include Brenmar's incredibly rhythmic take on Cassie's "Me & U," Dubbel Dutch's soca-flavored twist on Ciara's "Deuces," and Nguzunguzu's unrelenting drum programming that vastly improves Filip Filipi's track, "Can You Rock." When XLR8R first petitioned UK producer Dave Jones to put together a mix for our podcast series, the man had recently revived his Maddslinky moniker and released the Make a Change album, so we were sort of expecting a Maddslinky mix. However, in the meantime, Jones announced that he was putting the finishing touches on his next album as Zed Bias, the name for which he is best known. Tentatively titled Biasonic Hot Sauce, the record won't see the light of day until Spring 2011 on the Tru Thoughts label, but Jones must be in a Zed Bias state of mind, as this exclusive mix consists almost entirely of Zed Bias productions. Regardless of what alias he's using, the man is a certified legend, someone who helped put UK garage on the map more than a decade ago and has continued to pioneer new directions in the world of bass music.

In February 2010, Gil Scott-Heron released "I'm New Here", his first album in thirteen years. In August 2009, as a member of The xx (and producer) Jamie xx released his debut album "xx".

"NY Is Killing Me" is the first song from "We're New Here", Jamie xx's reworking of 13 tracks from the Gil Scott-Heron "I'm New Here" sessions.

The series kicks off with Sheffield’s foremost beatmaker Toddla T, who aside from being a globetrotting DJ, remixer, and BBC Radio 1 presenter, lists Roots Manuva and Tinchy Stryder as artists he’s produced. Here he joins forces in the studio with Dave Okumu from Mercury Prize-nominated The Invisible on a new track for his forthcoming album on Ninja Tune.

Episode 3 - Diplo

Episode three turns the spotlight onto Diplo : one of the world’s most sought after producers (with the likes of M.I.A and Snoop Dogg on his CV) finally meets his hero Lee Scratch Perry for the first time, culminating in the improvised collaboration between the two at Notting Hill Carnival.

Braiden - The Alps

It's one of Mary Anne Hobbs' favorite tunes of the year. It's the next record dropping on Joy Orbison's Doldrums label. It's the first single to come from photographer-cum-producer Steve Braiden. It's called "The Alps," and before it's even released, it seems to have become as massive as the mountain range that provides its name. Here, the bounding, icy tune is given a dark video of vintage, black-and-white footage from some nuclear power plant of sorts. We're not sure how the imagery correlates with the music (Maybe the intent is to somehow convey the bottled energy that throbs within Braiden's track?), but regardless, only about half of the production makes the cut before everything fades out. We'll be sure to catch the remaining four minutes when "The Alps" 12" drops on November 22.
