LUNICE - The Stacker Upper

When he’s not dancing, DJing or producing, the most exciting thing to come from Montreal since someone decided to put fries, cheese curds and gravy in a bowl and call it poutine is dancing while DJing his own productions, as displayed hella cinematically in this mini-documentary shot by Shot By JFK. Named after his just-released, highly-charting Stacker Upper EP, out now on the Scotland-based artist collective LuckyMe, the film features footage from this year’s Igloofest, where Quebecers rave in the snow like it’s nothing. Watch this.

And if you haven’t already, make sure you check out Lunice’s hip-hop debut Bus Stop Jazz, out now on Southern Hospitality, available on iTunes and Amazon, and playlisted on Kiss FM, NME Radio and Space Invaders Radio to name just a few. Enjoy.

LuckyMe are very proud to present the debut release of Montreal's 22 year-old Hip Hop phenomenʼ Lunice: Stacker Upper.

Lunice Fermin Pierre hails from Montreal Canada and is poised to become the next worldwide star in Hip Hop production - going way beyond the beats scene - he has already released official remixes for artists and labels as diverse as The XX, Deerhunter (In collaboration with Diplo – this remix reached number 1 in the HypeM chart, topping Kanye Westʼs Runaway single) Big Dada and Young Turks as well as his leaked bootleg series and received featured press from XLR8R, URB, Pitchfork, Dazed and FACT (with official Dazed and FACT mixes).

Lunices' low slung club slaying music contains A.D.D references to all that is currently exciting in modern Rap production. From the 808 minimalism of Hip Pop to the Jerk-rap referencing Purp Walk. The EP isnʼt contained to instrumentals however with a rare collaboration with Troy Dunnit from Canadian rap legends Obscure Disorder (alongside no less than A-Trak and Chromeo's Dave One)

With a world renowned triggering/dance show that has rattled speakers all over North America and Europe; Lunice was the 8000+ crowdʼs favourite act from the LuckyMe showcase at this years Sonar Festival – out hyping his own hypeman and garnering too many ʻones-to-watchʼ to mention. Evidence of his energetic livewire persona can be found online with his Youtube channel clocking up thousands of views each time another installment of his Beat Blog or dance routines appear, all naively filmed in his bedroom at his mom's house.

With buzz from the likes of Diplo, A-Trak, Rustie, Hudson Mohawke, Lazersword, Mary Anne Hobbes & Ricki Rucker this kid is gonna get known in dance music. But heʼs also about swimming with the best young rappers. In the coming months Lun' is teaming up with The Packʼs Young L and even The BASEDGOD himself Lil' B recording vocal versions of this EP. Songs you will no doubt hear leaked from us online soon. Heʼs collaborating with Chiddy of Chiddy Bang and teaming up with Diplo again on production for Atlanticʼs new golden boy, Wiz Khalifa. #yahearditherefirst #rare #swag #LUNICE #stackerupper

Oh, and look out for Luniceʼs release party live on U-Stream on Monday November 23rd 2010.
